WSTC Box Leagues Rules - how it works

Entry fee: £5 per person, per league entered.
The winner(s) of each league will receive the full prize fund for that league in Amazon vouchers.

Examples

If 6 players enter Singles League 1, the prize fund will be £30, awarded to the league winner.
If 6 pairs enter Doubles League 1, the prize fund will be £60, with each member of the winning pair receiving £30 in Amazon vouchers.

League Positions and Tie-Breaks

League winners are determined by total points won.
If two or more players finish on the same number of points, the player/pair with the most games won will be placed higher.
If players are still tied after comparing games won, the prize fund will be split equally between them.

Payment

Once a player has entered one or both leagues through the LTA portal, payment instructions and a payment deadline will be sent by email.
If payment is not received by the stated deadline, the player's entry will be automatically cancelled.

FAST 4 Format: Play two short sets (first to 4 games, at 3-3 play a tie-break to 7 (2 clear). At one set all play a third set tie break to 10 (2 clear).
A minimum of four matches must be played to be declared the winner of that league.
Players are responsible for contacting and arranging their own matches. Find player contact details on the WSTC court booking site or log on to your LTA Competitions Portal>West Surrey Tennis Club-Box League>scroll to your league>click on player for contact info.
Once the session starts please make contact with those in your group to arrange your matches. Once you have played, please log onto the Competitions Portal to submit your result
If a player withdraws at any point during the round, due to injury or any other reason, all of their previous matches will be voided. This ensures fairness for other players in the league who were unable to play against them.
In the event of a 'no show' the opponent takes a walkover and records the score 4-0,4-0.
If it proves difficult to arrange a match because an opposing player/pair cannot reasonably agree dates/times then agree a walkover and record the score 4-0,4-0. This only applies if the opposing player/pair have managed to play at least one match with another player/pair.
Match results must be entered before the closing date of each ROUND - see above for end date. The LTA automatically lock down the results page at midnight on the final day and therefore results cannot be entered afterward.
SINGLES/DOUBLES Box: 6 players/pairs per box (sometimes 5). It really depends on number of entrants (occasionally numbers may be adjusted +/-).
1. PROMOTION/RELEGATION
  1. At the end of the session:
    1. League 1: Bottom 2 relegated
    2. League 2: Top 2 promoted, bottom 2 relegated.
    3. League 3: Top 2 promoted, bottom 2 relegated.
    4. League 4: Top 2 promoted, bottom 2 relegated.
    5. League 5: Top 2 promoted.
Inactive players e.g. a player/pair that fails to play a single match during a session will be automatically removed from the leagues at the session end date . If a player/pair is removed and wishes to re-join at some future point they'll need to re-apply and will be re-entered in a lower league.
Please do not rely on email reminders for unplayed matches or session end dates. The leagues are self managing and rely on players to arrange and play their matches in good time. Box League Matches can be booked beyond the 7 day rule. Complete advanced booking request using this LINK.
WSTC Box Leagues are open to WSTC members only.
Option to change partners after each session. A partner change will not be able to take place until the current round ends.

HOW TO ENTER YOUR BOX LEAGUE MATCH RESULT

Step 1. Enter competitions.lta.org.uk/user in your URL search bar
Step 2. Log on using your LTA username and password
Step 3. Scroll down to West Surrey Tennis Club - Box League - click
Step 4. Scroll down to reveal unplayed matches and enter your score
