The Kilimanjaro Tennis Masters Charity Event
Sun 17th September 09:00 - 17:00 Aiming high and making a difference are two of the most important tenets in life and the human spirit in facing adversity is truly remarkable and this is how our friend Paul Jameson (former WSTC Men's Captain) has approached his very recent diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease – which is incremental in its debilitating effects. |
His wish is to climb Kilimanjaro and to raise funds for MND and to contribute to the African community in Tanzania either by delivering sports goods or by sponsoring a suitable charity. To this end ten of us including Paul and his wife Jess intend to have The Kilimanjaro Tennis Masters on the ‘Roof of Africa’ – yes a tennis match on the highest point which is 4,000 feet above the peak of Mont Blanc. This seems fitting homage both to aiming high and to the tennis theme and is designed to inspire the fund raise. We are looking to celebrity endorsement and to arranging for coverage on Sky and other media.
The second tenet of making a difference is then down to us all and therefore we invite and ask you to get involved with other events, corporate or personal support and entering The Kilimanjaro Tennis Masters event on Sunday the 17th September 2017.
Finals will be held at West Surrey Tennis Club with prior rounds at local courts along the lines of the Enton Grand Slam Doubles. The tournament is open to all, ladies, men and children.

T SHIRTS
T shirts will be available at £10 both on the day and prior - but pre orders once again will greatly aid planning and organisation and will be entirely appropriate to wear on the day. On the day... Delicious food and drink will be available at the West Surrey Tennis Club and a band will be playing. The aim is to make the day a fun family and friends orientated event open to ALL and we would like to invite as many people as possible to come along! |
We are very lucky to have Mike Henry who is a fabulous coach who has agreed to run coaching with drills etc with the added help of Rory, Jo’s boyfriend and his brother Francis and we will determine the precise format once entries have been received - no later than the 31st July please!
Should you wish to enter the Tennis Tournament please do so ASAP – there is much work to be done to drive this tournament and the wider fund raise and early replies will really help the organisation.
We are looking to involve as much of the community as possible so ideas, raffle prizes, your time and your engagement are truly welcomed. It is really important for Paul and Jess to be supported and there is no better demonstration than through a groundswell of involvement and action.
