mini tournament
august bank holiday 2014
Coffee Walnut Cake, Red Arrows fly past, Raucous Laughter, Beer, 19 players on one court.
It must have been a Round Robin Tournament..... but not as we know it.
The Round Robin Tournament was fast and furious 19 members battled through 45 matches playing against and with all participants, everyone played 36 games. It was a very enjoyable social afternoon
The clear winner was club Chairman Roger Standing, playing with his normal killer instinct, Roger it was supposed to be a friendly Tournament! Actually it was the right mix of competitive friendly tennis.
Runner up was Rory C-P who organised the day, fix I hear you cry, tough he replied my tournament my, rules Ha! |But well done to Micky Callcut and Malcolm Dillon as joint runners up
We even had a fly past of the Red Arrows too, the tennis was interspersed with light hearted conversation, tea cake, nibbles wine and beer and a keen interest in the running score.
Jo Naish won a trophy for the most stylish player, her tennis was not up to much but she did look very striking in her Pearl necklace, earrings and matching tennis racquet.
The day was concluded with all 19 players on one court to battle out a sudden death finale one by one the players lost their lives and left the court, last 'man' standing was Celeste Lawrence who took no prisoners to win and received the prestigious trophy.
