competition Rules
Summer Championships
The Committee
- The minimum skill standard for entering the Summer Tournament is intermediate/3.0 Rating : Please refer to the self-rating chart CLICK HERE
- Doubles pairs will be drawn randomly (unlike the Winter Tournament, where you can select your partner)
- The closing date for entries is midnight 16th March : The draw will be published shortly thereafter.
- The competition will begin on March 20th, with the final played on SUNDAY, 22 June. Please do not enter if you know in advance that you will be unavailable to play in the final.
- Matches will be best of 3 sets with a tie-break (2 clear points) at 6-6. If a match reaches one set all, a tie-break to 7 (2 clear points) will be played.
- Tournament matches must be completed by the designated play-by date. The play-by date rule will be strictly enforced to prevent last-minute panics and court congestion. If captains have not heard from players by the play-by date and no result has been recorded, a coin toss will automatically determine who advances.
- All tournament matches can be booked in advance beyond the 7 day standard booking limit. Click HERE to book a court in advance (scroll down to bottom of the page).
- Players are responsible for arranging their matches - Members' contact details can be found on the club's online court booking system CLICK HERE. If you don't have your court booking username and/or password email the Committee
- Tournament matches cannot be played on the following days/times:
- Tuesday Match Practice evenings
- Tuesday 4-6pm roll up
- Wednesday roll up evenings
- Friday ladies roll up 10-11am C1 and 2
- Saturday morning roll ups
- Friday night social BBQ & tennis after 18:30
- If, for any reason you are unable to arrange a match, consider negotiating a walkover for the pair who has made themselves most available, or alternatively, toss a coin.
- Extension: If there are truly exceptional circumstances, and both parties agree to a date slightly beyond the play-by date (without affecting subsequent matches), one of the captains should be contacted to request a deferment. Click HERE to email captains.
- If injury prevents a player from completing their match by the stated play-by date, the opposing pair must grant a walkover.
